NJ FISHING LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Freshwater License

Required for all anglers 16+ fishing any freshwater body in NJ. Annual, 7-day, and 1-day licenses available. Trout stamp required separately for stocked trout waters.

Saltwater Registry

Free registration required for all saltwater anglers 16+ fishing NJ coastal waters. Register at njfishandwildlife.com. Separate from freshwater license.

Federal HMS Permit

Required for targeting highly migratory species (tuna, billfish, swordfish, sharks) in federal waters. HMS Angling Permit available from NOAA Fisheries.
